AWARE CHILD SAFE CHILD

Shilpi pal, 10 Anjali Tiwari, 10 Ajay Mishra, 10 Aadarsh, 10 Pooja Pandey, 10 Deeply concerned over the disturbing news coverage on child safety, a group of students from Satya Bharti School, Kurrian Kalan in Uttar Pradesh took it upon themselves to create a safer environment for children in their community. The students soon realized that community members were highly unaware of the protocols to follow upon being attacked;most children did not even know they are being taken advantage of due to lack of knowledge. Upon learning this, the students of Satya Bharti School decided that their campaign would be centered around creating awareness on safety of children from unsolicited advances. The students’ campaign was three-fold. The first part of the campaign consisted of training community members including school and college students, their parentsandthe local police on the proper protocols involved. Marginalization means treating some groups or categories of people as insignificant or peripheral. India being a diverse country with people of different social and cultural groups living together, it is quite obvious that there must be a lot of  marginalized groups in India .  Marginalization is not unidimensional; there are different groups which face marginalization and become part of marginalized groups in India due to different factors like economic status, caste, class, religion, gender and even age. Common examples of marginalized groups in India include people from rural areas, women, Dalits, scheduled tribes, children and elderly. Marginality is an experience which affects many people throughout the country.
